Butterscotch Cookies

Cookie:

1/2 cup soft shortening

1 1/2 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 cup sour cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 3/4 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon salt

2/3 cups chopped nuts (optional)


  • In a large bowl place shortening brown sugar and eggs.
  • Mix thorouahly.
  • Stir in sour cream and vanilla. sift together flour, soda, and salt. 
  • Add to wet mixture.
  • Drop 1 Tablespoon balls about 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. 

Bake at 375F for about 9-10 minutes.


Glaze:

1/4 cups butter, melted
 
1 cups powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1-2 Tablespoons hot water

  • Blend butter and powdered sugar. 
  • Add vanilla.
  • Stir in water until the glaze spreads smoothly.
