Full Proof Pie Crust

 


4 cups flour

1 Tablespoon. sugar
2 tsp
1 3/4 cups shortening
1/2 cup ice-cold water
1 Tablespoon vinegar (white wine)
1 egg

  • Sift together flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add shortening: mix with hands, forks, or pastry knife until all shortening is incorporated. The dough should be able to be processed into a ball and then should crumble again.
  • Add water, vinegar, and the egg, mix well. 
  • Place on a lightly floured surface and knead until soft and smooth (The more kneading the better)?
  • Divide into 5 parts.
  • roll out

Makes 5 round pie crusts.
