Sugar Cookies (Soft)

 


3 cups of sugar (1 cup)

1 1/2 butter flavored shortening

3 eggs

2 cups of milk

3 Tablespoons baking power

1 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon vanilla

8-10 cups of flour


  • Cream the sugar and shortening until it is light and fluffy and a light yellow color.
  • Add eggs and mix again until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in milk and vanilla
  • Sift together 8 cups of flour, salt, and baking powder. 
  • Add the flour mixture to the liquid a cup at a time.
  • Mix for as little as possible until it reaches a soft cookie consistency.
  • Refrigerate for 1 hour
  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. 
  • Roll out to 1/4 thickness
  • Cut into cookie shapes.
  • Cook for 6-15 minutes, until just done with very slight tan on the edges. 
Makes about 10 Dozen
